The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has footed the bill of kidney transplant operation of 22-year-old Nayif Ismail at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH, Kano.

Mr Ismail has been battling with severe kidney disease for two years as both organs have been damaged, a situation that prompted transplant.

The patient, a Quranic school teacher, is now undergoing dialysis twice a week at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital in the Kano metropolis and is in critical condition.

The emir, who visited the patient at the dialysis unit of the hospital on Tuesday, said all arrangements have been completed for the surgery at the AKTH.

Mr Ismail’s brother, Asad Ismail, also thanked the emir on behalf of the family.
