The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has advised politicians in the country against arming youths during electioneering campaigns.
The monarch gave the advice when the state Consultative Committee on Reelection of Buhari/Ganduje paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace on Monday.
He said the advice was necessary in order to ensure peace before, during and after the forthcoming general elections in the country.

He, however, called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs, stressing that thuggery has become old fashion globally.
He also stressed the need for politicians to avoid acts capable of causing disaffection among their opponents for sustainable peace in the state country.
He said what the country needed most this time was peace so as to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct free, fair and credible elections.
Mr Sanusi, who stressed the need for politicians to fulfil their campaign promises, advised them to fear God in all their dealings.
NAN reports that the Emir quoted verses from the Holy Qur’an and Hadith to buttress the importance of fulfilling promises.
The emir called on the electorate to vote for credible candidates during the upcoming elections in the country.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the committee, Hamza Darma said the committee members were at the palace to seek for the blessings of the monarch.
He assured the emir that the committee would do its best to promote peaceful coexistence in the state.
