5G Connection season commences this month
Emperor Stars Football Club and Young Talent Queens 99 have emerged winners in the males and females’ categories of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Championship tournament.
The tournament held at the NITEL football pitch, Oshodi, saw the Stars defeated Amsterdam Football Club 1-0, while the Talent Queens beat Jagunmolu Queens of Shomolu 2-1.
For their effort, the Stars went home with the star prize of N250,000, while their opponent at the final, Amsterdam Club got N150,000.00 and N75,000 given to Young Talent FC for third place position.
In the female cadre, Queens 99 was presented a cheque of N100,000, as winner while Jagunmolu and Phoenix Queens received N50,000 and N30,000 for second and third place respectively.
The championship organised by the RCCG Province 1, was to keep the youths busy and also assist them to discover their talents.
According to the Pastor-in-Charge of Province 1, RCCG, Pastor Bode Olaniyan, a new season for this year’s tournament tagged 5G Connection would commence later this month in eight zones.
He said other things lined for the youths this year include arrangement of skill acquisition and empowerment programme in collaboration with the Lagos State government, as well as the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) certification for the benefit of the youths.
He added that courses ranging from barbing to entrepreneurship, hat and bead making among others would help keep the youths busy in addition to whatever they make as income from playing football.
