Former Director of Media, Publicity and ICT of the Buhari Campaign Organization, BCO, Aliyu Lawal-Saulawa, has been appointed as the National Coordinator of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, BAT, Movement.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that BAT is a campaign and mass mobilisation group for the actualisation of the 2023 Presidential ambition of the National Leader of The All progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during his inauguration on Friday in Abuja, Mr Lawal-Saulawa promised to do all it takes “to deliver, promote and protect the movement to its logical conclusion”.
Mr Lawal-Saulawa who is also the Managing Director of Hotel De Bently, Abuja, said he and his team are ready to sacrifice time, resources and capacity for the prosperity and unity of the country, while thanking the founder and the Board of Trustee members for finding him worthy of the position.
Earlier in his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour at the event, Mustapha Habib, expressed his happiness over the appointment, saying that the movement was a dream-comes-true, “after years of hard work, determination and focus on achieving this noble goal”.
“Jagaban is a great supporter of the North as evidently witnessed in the Buhari’s race to presidency in 2015 and his re-election in 2019,” he said while urging Nigerians to support the BAT project to make Nigeria great.
Also speaking, the Founder of the movement, Biodun Ajiboye, described the Jagaban of Borgu as a pillar of democracy, pointing out the important role Mr Tinubu played in entrenching democracy during the military regime and the leading role he is playing since the return to democracy in 1999 till date.
He said: “BAT has brought capacity and strategy to the ruling APC since the merging of the political parties that formed APC. He has demonstrated rare love for Nigeria and Nigerians in several ways.
“Therefore, he is a leader we cannot do without. This is a gathering to celebrate his brand of politics and appreciate his sacrifices and mentorship which has endeared several nationalistic
youth in Nigeria to look up to him as a role model.”
Speaking further, Mr Biodun said the Board of Trustees of the movement search far and wide before arriving at Mr Lawal-Saulawa, considering due diligence on his past antecedent and dedication to similar duties.
On his part, the member representing Bindawa & Mani Constituency, Aminu Mani, who is also the Chairman House Committee on Lake Chad Basin, described the new National Coordinator as a pragmatic political strategist who, he said, would deliver on the patriotic assignment.
