The Emir of Shinkafi, Muhammad Makwashe Isa, has accepted the resignation of the five council members who resigned in protest against the conferment of a traditional title on Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.
Recall that a couple of weeks ago, the Sarkin Gabas had conferred on the 59-year-old Lagos-based lawyer, essayist and social critic the traditional title of ‘Sadaukin shinkafi’, a development that prompted public outcry, with many others giving the gesture a political colouration.
A few days after, Bilyaminu Yusuf, Sardaunan Shinkafi; Umar Ajiya, Dan-Majen Shinkafi; Hadiza Abdul’aziz-Yari, Iyar Shinkafi; Dr Tijjani Salihu Shinkafi, Uban Marayun Shinkafi and; Dr Suleiman Shuaibu, Sarkin Shanun Shinkafi, had tendered their official resignation letter in protest against the coronation.
The emir, in a statement on Wednesday by Ibrahim Muhammad, Sarkin Sudan Shinkafi, acknowledged the resignation, just as he announced their replacements.
The statement said: “His royal highness has now approved the conferment of the following individuals; Hon. Aliyu Jibril Guraguri as Sardaunan Shinkafi, Umar Abdullahi as Dan Majen Shinkafi, Bello Hassan Shinkafi as Uban Marayun Shinkafi and Dr. Usman Muhammad as Sarkin Shanun Shinkafi.
The emir also conferred some members of the Shinkafi royal family with different titles as thus: SUlaiman Mani as Sallamar Shinkafi, Rabi’u Dahiru as Barayan Shinkafi, Bello Umar as Bunun Shinkafi, Dr. Ibrahim Jibril Hanu as Wakilin Lafiyar Shinkafi, and Dr. Ibrahim Hassan as Tudun shinkafi.
Others are Abba Atiku as Gwarzon shinkafi, Ibrahim Bama as Gabdon Shinkafi, Yahaya Ibrahim as Hasken Shinkafi, Fatima Sa’id Arab as Sarauniyar Shinkafi, Abdullahi Sani as Dan Isan Shinkafi, Dr. Aminu Alhazai as Wakilin Maganin Shinkafi, and Abdullahi Muhammad Maitaurari as Jakadan Shinkafi.
The rest include Hindatu Muhammad Maitaurari as Kilishin Shinkafi, Lawali Moyo as Lihdin Shikafi, Kabiru Ibrahim as Mu’allakin Shinkafi, Ashiru Ibrahim Dangishiri as Dan Amanar Shinkafi and Ashiru Umaru Nagwanadu as Sarakin Shinkafi.
The emirate’s spokesman, however, disclosed that conferment celebration date would be announced soon.
