The Kogi Leadership Initiative Forum, KLIF, has denounced James Faleke’s alleged selfish approach to federal appointments, citing a lack of representation for other local governments in Kogi State.
In a statement signed by Olusọla Salami, the KLIF expressed concerns that Mr Faleke has prioritized his personal agenda, promoting only individuals from Ijumu Local Government Area for federal positions.
The group highlighted the dominance of Ijumu indigenes in recent appointments, including:
– Tosin Adeyanju, NLTF Executive Secretary
– Hon. Yori Afolabii, National Population Commission Federal Commissioner
-,Kogi Ambassador nominee and University of Jos professor
– Dr. Adeniyi Helen Aderibigbe Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, a blood relation of Mr Faleke
KLIF noted that some local governments, including those in Kogi East, which constitutes 50% of the state’s voting population, have been neglected in the distribution of federal and state appointments.
The group alleged that critical stakeholders and political leaders from Kogi East, Central, and Kogi West have been excluded from the process, indicating Faleke’s alleged selfish intentions.
Additionally, KLIF criticized the waiver granted to Mr Faleke to nominate a male deputy chairman for Ijumu Local Government, instead of a female as proposed by the governor and party, citing injustice to female party members and disregard for gender balance.
KLIF appealed to President Tinubu to ensure fair and balanced scrutiny of future appointments from Kogi West, considering the region’s diverse interests.
The group emphasized the need for broader consultation and inclusivity in the appointment process to prevent further marginalization of other communities.
