Female BUK student kidnapped at Rijiyar Zaki area of Kano

A 300-Level student of Botany at Bayero University, Kano, Sakina Bello, has been kidnapped while commuting between Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki area of the Kano metropolis.

Family sources confirmed the incident to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying she was kidnapped around 3pm on Tuesday on her way back home in a commercial tricycle, known as Dansahu.

The abductors later called on Wednesday morning, demanding N100million ransom.

Spokesman for Kano Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the police received a report of a missing person around 3pm on Tuesday and started investigating the matter immediately.

Mr Kiyawa, a deputy superintendent of police, said efforts to trace her whereabouts were ongoing.

BUK spokesman Lamara Azare said the university has not been on session since July, and will resume on November 1.

“We are not on session. We have no any student residing on campus, and we have not received any incident of abduction of any student,” he said.
