The Abuja-Kaduna train has finally resumed operations on Monday, eight months after its suspension, following terrorist attack on one of the trains.

DAILY NIGERIAN correspondent who was in the Idu station to observe the resumption around 7am, reported that passengers boarded the train amidst tight security.

Our correspondent observed that there was low turnout of passengers during the 7am train service.

It was also gathered that security measures, including CCTV cameras, have been mounted at strategic locations to monitor the movement of the train.

Speaking with our correspondent, one of the passengers, Aminu Alhassan, expressed joy by the resumption, saying that he has no fear in boarding the train to Kaduna.

He said: “I can’t thank Federal Government enough for resuming the train service. Since the attack incident, I think I followed road to Kaduna only twice. I had to keep begging my family for my inability to go see them.

Another passenger who identified himself as Marcus Budwara, called on the Federal Government to sustain the security measures put in place to ensure seamless operations.

“I hope the heavy security presence I saw will be sustained. We need to feel secure before restoring our confidence on the train service,” said Mr Budwara.
