The Deputy Director General of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation during the 2015 general elections, Olorunnimbe Mamora has been appointed as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA.
Approving the appointment through a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Sabiu Zakari, and dated September 24, Mr Buhari said the appointment was with immediate effect.
Mr Mamora, who represented Lagos East in the Senate from 2003 to 2011, was also a one-time Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly
Recall that Mr Mamora, earlier this year, had turned down Buhari’s appointment as Chairman of the Abuja Investment and Infrastructure Centre, AIIC.
Informed sources said he felt the appointment, which is the equivalent of a state parastatal, was not befitting and argued that people who never participated in the process that brought Buhari to power were occupying the front seats of government.
