The Adamawa State Police command has confirmed a fire outbreak in Kerawa barracks Yola killing a police inspector identified as Mr Bobbo, his wife, Grace who is a sergeant, their daughter, and a constable.
The victims were said to have been burnt to death in an early morning fire outbreak in the barracks.
Othman Abubakar, the force public relations officer, who confirmed the incident said the fire started around 1:00 am, adding that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Mr Abubakar said, “Inspector Bobbo, his wife, Grace, their daughter and a newly recruited constable who is a relation that is squatting with them were all killed in the unfortunate incident,”
Residents of the barracks tried to rescue the victim but were put-off by the burglary proof in the house.
“Many people have installed burglar proof due to petty thefts being experienced in the barrack,” a female resident who spoke under anonymity said.
Meanwhile, Adamawa Deputy Governor, Martins Babale visited the scene of the fire outbreak in the barrack to sympathize with the residents over the incident.
