No fewer than 40 people were rendered homeless in a fire outbreak which occurred at Onibata Compound, Alore in llorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to reports, the fire outbreak which lasted over three hours occurred in the early hours of Monday and affected 14 rooms.
An eye witness revealed that it took the State Fire Service less than 30 minutes to put out the fire, preventing it from affecting more rooms although nobody could ascertain the cause of the fire.
Items damaged by the inferno included jewelries, clothing, electrical gadgets and other assorted materials.
While speaking with newsmen, two of the victims, Mr Suleiman Olohunoje and Mr AbdulGaniyu Olohunoje, lamented that they were unable to salvage any of their belongings.
The victims appealed to both the State and Local Government Council to come to their aid to alleviate their sufferings.
The Director of the State Fire Service, Mr Falade Olumuyiwa, described the incident as unfortunate and sympathized with the victims.
