A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Daniel Bwala, has defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr Bwala announced his defection via his Twitter account on Friday. According to him, the PDP presents a clearer vision for Nigeria and is the only party that has realistic chances of wrestling power from the APC.
Mr Bwala, who served as a special adviser on legal matters to the Deputy Senate president, recently announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in protest of the decision of the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu, to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 elections.
His defection to the opposition party comes barely two days after the minority leader of the house representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, led a delegation of opposition lawmakers to woo the legal practitioner.
Mr Elumelu during the visit said, “We watched you with admiration when you stood out, from all of them to say, listen, you believe in the sanctity and unity of this country and you believe that nobody should be shut out by any means, and the party that you joined in building, you decided to leave the party, which is APC, on principle”.
The tweet reads, “Today I officially joined @OfficialPDPNig for the following reasons; 1.PDP presents a clear vision for one Nigeria 2. PDP is the party with the realistic chance of defeating APC 3. Atiku is the only candidate with superior experience to lead Nigeria out of the woods.”
