Foundation holds 2020 children’s summer theatre in Abuja

A Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, the African Theatre Development Foundation, is set to host the 2020 edition of its annual Children’s Summer Theatre on Wednesday, in Abuja.

DAILY NIGERIAN recalled that this is fourth in the series, as the last two editions, 2018 and 2019, were held at NTA Arena, Area 11, Abuja,

During the previous editions, participating children were taught scriptwriting, acting, storytelling, African drums and dance among others.

Issuing a statement on Monday, the Founder and Creative Director of the foundation, Prince Zadok, said the 2020 edition is scheduled to hold at Art Addiction in Life Camp starting from Wednesday September 23 to Saturday 26.

According to him, children between the ages of 7 to 19 will be exposed to set designs, costumes, props, storytelling, and other aspects of theatre productions.

He noted that the theatre had focused on inculcating rich African values in children using the instrumentality of the stage as a platform for interaction and engagement during summer.

Mr Zadok said that the foundation has many government agencies as partners such as the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, NICO.

Others are Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, HRORBN, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, among others and private concerns as well as well-meaning individuals.
