Friends and close associates to Musa Abubakar, the embattled husband of Nasiba Sani Dauda, a daughter to the Kaduna Business mogul popularly known as ASD, have sued for peace in the ongoing “media trial” of their estranged marriage.
Mr Abubakar had allegedly ordered the arrest of Nasiba’s father for marrying her off to another suitor when the matter was pending in courts.
Nasiba had also taken to her social media handles to raise allegations against her estranged husband who is believed to be a friend to the current Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
However, addressing a press conference Sunday in Abuja, some closed associates of Mr Abubakar, led by the Dean, Students Affairs of the University of Abuja, Dr. Abubakar Kari, called on Nasiba to withdraw her allegation against their friend, who they described as “a man of character, integrity and honesty”.
While challenging Nasiba to substantiate all her allegations against their friend, Mr Kari said “the allegations levelled against him (Abubakar) by Nasiba and her co-travellers are baseless, mischievous, preposterous and nothing but tissues of lies.
“We would like to call on Nasiba Sani Dauda to, without any delay, retract, withdraw and apologise the very wild allegation she labelled against her husband which she knows not to be true, and seeks for Allah’s forgiveness.”
Mr Kari, therefore, called on Nasiba and her father to toe the path of peace by refraining from indulging in “unfair commentaries” in the media in order to paint Mr Abubakar with a tarred brush.
“We can authoritatively attest, affirm and confirm that Abubakar Musa is a very normal, straight and hardworking person, someone whose pleasant personality is so obvious that it is palpable. he mixes so well that his circle of friends and associates traverses and transcends class, religion, ethnicity and race.
“He is a comrade par excellence (and onetime Vice-President of the National Association of Nigerian Students), and he has proved his mettle as a successful businessman and politician. This is a reality that Nasiba, her father Alhaji Sani Dauda, or any hireling, cannot change no matter how hard they try,” Mr Kari stressed.
Mr Abubakar’s associates also described as strange the intervention by a group known as Muslims Lawyers Association of Nigeria, MULAN, Kaduna branch, saying that their “antics and stand on the issue is neither Islamic nor in accord with the principles of natural justice, equity and good conscience”.
“We have watched with growing concern, alarm, disbelief and shock the deliberate attempt by some persons to malign, defame and destroy the good and well-earned reputation of our friend.
“There appears to be a well-oiled campaign of calumny and orchestrated misrepresentation of what ordinarily is a pure family problem that is now lashed upon to drag the name of our friend in the mould, as evidence in a sudden flurry of sponsored false and malicious stories in the media.
“We are, therefore, gathered here today in solidarity with our friend and comrade and to assure him that we firmly stand with him and to tell the world that contrary to what his traducers and detractors would want others to believe, Abubakar Musa is a man of character and honesty,” the associates stressed.
