Worried by the high trend of overloaded vehicles on Plateau highways, the state’s Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said a special patrol would be launched to curtail menace.

The command, in a statement signed by its Public Education Officer, Andrew Bala, said that the special operation tagged: “Operation Zero Tolerance to Overloading of Vehicles and Tricycles”, would commence from October 16.

The commissioner regretted the indiscriminate overloading of vehicles by drivers and tricycle riders, saying that the trend contravened section 4 of the FRSC Act 2007.

“Overloading also contrasts the National Road Traffic Regulations, NRTR, of 2012 and 2016, as amended,” the statement said on Wednesday, in Jos.

It warned erring drivers and tricycles riders to desist in their own interest as anyone caught would face the full weight of the law.
