Federal University Birnin Kebbi, FUBK, has announced the receipt of Augustine Madubiya, a final year student of the University,after his rescue from his kidnappers.
A statement on Thursday by the University’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Jamilu Magaji, said the student was rescued unhurt from the kidnappers by the combined effort of the security agencies in the State.
According to the statement, Kebbi State Deputy Governor Umar Abubakar Tafida, in the company of the state Commissioner of Police, Bello M Sani, handed over the student to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan Umar on Thursday at the University’s Council Chambers.
“The deputy governor attributed the success story to the resilience of the state governor as well as a firm directive issued to the security agencies in the state to take immediate action to rescue the student.
“The student who is currently receiving medical treatment will be reunited with his colleagues at the University.
“The Vice Chancellor has, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the University, expressed his deep-rooted appreciation to the Government and all security operatives for the immediate galvanization of the entire security architecture of the State in support of the University during this trying time.
“The University sincerely appreciates the unwavering commitment of His Excellency Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris towards safeguarding the lives and properties of all Nugerians residing in the State,” the statement noted.
