The association of Fulani youths covering the 19 states of Northern Nigeria has rejected the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for the Saturday 16 presidential election.

The Fulani youths, under the auspices of Jonde Jam Fulani Youth Association of Nigeria, JAFUYAN, made the endorsement on Wednesday during their general meeting held at the Semshark hotel in Jos.

The youth association, led by JAFUYAN National Chairman, Saeedu Maikano, said: “For the fact that the President is a man of truth, honesty and integrity, we decided to endorse him.”

He said: “We know that the PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar is also our son but President Buhari, the Presidential Candidate of the APC stands out. He is not corrupt and he is honest.”

According to Mr Maikano, the Fulani youth has over 12 million votes, and “we will deliver at least 11 votes to the President.”

Mr Maikano further said the laudable programmes of transforming the social lives of Nigerians through empowerment and agricultural development, are other reasons they gave their support to Mr Buhari.

The chairman tasked the Fulani and all other Nigerians to be peaceful in their conduct before, during and after elections.

Also speaking, a former deputy governor of Plateau state, Pauline Tallen, called on the Fulani people to be peaceful.

“I want you to work and ensure that there is peace in Nigeria, must importantly in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba and other parts of the country. By this you are also helping the President to ensure that there is peace,” she urged.

Ms Tallen, who represented the Buhari /Osinbajo Campaign Council, assured the Fulani group of the Mr Buhari’s desire to make Nigeria great.

She, therefore, called on members of the group to stay peacefully with one another and vote massively for the APC from top to bottom.
