The Kano State government on Wednesday said it has approved the sum of N209 million for the payment of internal examinations registration fees.
The state Commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Muhammad Garba disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of 111/112 Executive Council meeting.
Mr Garba said the fees cover the Basic Education Certificate Examination, Placement Examination, Senior Secondary School Certificate Qualifying Examination and Qualifying Examinations for Tahfeez and Tajweed.
The commissioner added that about N210 million has also been approved for the payment of upkeep allowances and return air tickets to state-sponsored students overseas.
According to him, N230 million has also been approved for renovation and upgrade of Fagwalawa Primary Healthcare to Cottage Hospital, adding that about N68 million for renovation works at the School of Health Technology.
He also revealed that the council had earmarked N31 million for the procurement of bed sheets for 31 secondary health facilities.
“The sum of N15 million for furnishing works at newly constructed female hostel blocks at School of Nursing Madobi and College of Midwifery Gwarzo,” he added.
Mr Garba also said over N51 million has been approved for the construction of additional office block at the state Agency for Mass Education.
He called on the general public to continue with their overwhelming support to the administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, stressing that the governor was always willing to deliver dividend of democracy on the Kano citizens.
