Bandits have reportedly attacked the convoy of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje on his way Kano from Zamfara State on Tuesday.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Ganduje was in Zamfara to receive Governor Bello Matawalle who formally defected to All Progressives Congress, APC.

Sources from the state government house disclosed that the convoy was attacked by heavily-armed bandits along Shema Road in Katsina State.

In the ensuing gun duel, three police officers reportedly sustained minor bullet injuries, while the convoy ambulance was riddled with bullets.

Another vehicle was said to have had a tire burst as a result of gunshots.

It was, however, gathered that the governor was not in the convoy, as he was said to have joined his Jigawa State counterpart, Badaru Abubakar and left his convoy to travel separately.
