The Kano State government on Saturday admitted that a meeting was held in Abuja to reconcile Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
This confirms DAILY NIGERIAN story on a meeting held not at the instance of the president but the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi and billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote.
But a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Abba Anwar, said the “dialogue” was at the instance of between the two leaders would continue.
“Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje exchanges Sallah pleasantries with the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in Abuja last night, Friday.
“As the two leaders met, they congratulated each other for the successful completion of the Month of Ramadhan Fast and the Sallah festive period.
“Both leaders spoke jointly to all Muslims and urged them to continue with the good teachings and spirit of the Fasting period of the Month of Ramadhan.
“Emir Sanusi seized the opportunity to congratulate governor Ganduje for the victory in his second term in office. Wishing the governor to have successful tenure in office from 2019 to 2023.
“For healthier relationship between the two institutions of government and Kano Emirate, dialogue continues.
“The dialogue was initiated by the Kano born business mogul Aliko Dangote and the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum Dr Kayode Fayemi. Not by President Muhammadu Buhari as earlier speculated by some section of the media.”
