Germany’s attorney general said on Wednesday that a suspected Islamic State terrorist who travelled to Syria with her three young children should be imprisoned for seven years.

The 33-year-old put her children in severe danger by taking them to the Sunni extremist group’s self-proclaimed caliphate and exposed them to a violent ideology, according to the indictment.

The defendant, from the city of Oberhausen in north-west Germany, is accused of taking the children from their father.

The woman said that she had previously handed him over to an Islamic State training camp three times. Her confession is expected to get her a milder sentence.
