…presents N100m cheques to 19 children going for various surgeries

The Director-General and National Coordinator of the Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care, GIPLC, Nuhu Kwajafa, has disclosed plans to raise about N1billion for helping over 500 sick and less privileged children in the country.

Speaking during the official presentation of N100million cheques to 19 children for various surgeries in Abuja, Mr Kwajafa said the number of requests for help and support they receive has doubled, hence the need to seek for funds.

According to Mr Kwajafa, there is no other feeling better than that of helping the less privileged, most especially children who are vulnerable.

“Global Initiative for peace, love and care (GIPLC) is an NGO that supports vulnerable children’s needs, especially those in critical health conditions. In the last 17 years since our inception, we have raised over $6m for children in Nigeria and abroad (Eg, South Sudan).

“We concentrate on medicals for children because it is an everyday problem, and a huge challenge in our country given the state of the economy, and the poverty level of many common Nigerians.

“Presently, we have thousands of children across the country with various kinds of medical conditions, but are limited in our capacity to help.

“We honestly believe that the huge number of medically challenged children in Nigeria is a national crisis, and that the Government of the day should indeed declare a state of medical emergency on time.”

While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the initiative, Mr Kwajafa said: “We are appealing to all well-meaning Nigerians to partner with us in our ‘Touching Lives Everyday’ Campaign.

“Life is not worth living if we cannot help those in need, most especially our world’s children. This is my lifetime vision, and I also call on you the media to partner with us on this onerous yet fulfilling lifetime journey of love and care,” Mr Kwajafa added.
