The Senator representing Gombe South Senatorial District, Bulus K. Amos, on Thursday approved the appointment of 118 constituents as Special Advisers and Persona Assistants.

A statement signed by the Senator’s Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Abdul Lauya said the appointments spread across the 40 Wards in the four local government areas of Balanga, Billiri, Kaltungo, and Shongom in the state.

Mr Lauya added that the appointment comprised of two Personal Assistants, PAs, from each ward, and 38 Special Assistants, SAs.

According to him, “the massive appointment is part of Senator Amos’ empowerment drive aimed at reducing joblessness, youth restiveness, thuggery and other social vices.”

“While the PAs are to serve as links between the lawmaker and the grassroots, the SAs would represent various special interests including women, youths, students, physically challenged and the aged through the constituency office in Bambam.

“Letters of appointment would be presented to the appointees at a later date at the constituency office,” Mr Lauya added.
