The governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, has demolished the Chanchaga Police Station in Minna.

According to a statement issued by the special adviser to the governor on digital communications, Abdullberqy Ebbo, said the police station was illegally constructed on a major water pipeline.

Recall that the governor, during his inaugural speech, vowed to demolish the police station for disrupting water supply to the state capital.

Mr Ebbo said the police station, which is located opposite the state water board, was illegally constructed out of clear disregard for planning regulations.

“Gov. Mohammed Umaru Bago, who has placed provision of potable drinking water as part of his agenda, will do everything within his power as the governor to provide water for his people,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the government has also warned organisations, institutions, and individuals to seek approval from constituted relevant authorities before erecting any building.

He noted that the government will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone found wanting for disregarding the law and order in the state.

In a similar vein, the governor also ordered the revocation of a Certificate of Occupancy, C of O, and the immediate demolition of a fuel station belonging to Ashrab Energy Limited.
The governor gave the directive when he inspected the filling station, along Ketaren Gwari, Minna.
A statement by the spokesman for the governor, Bologi Ibrahim, said the structure was illegal and posed a threat to the lives of people living in the area.
He also said that the management of the filling station had ignored his directive asking them to suspend the ongoing construction.
“We have report of the illegal structure, and I have asked the Urban Development Board to stop them from work but they continued, so we revoked the C of O from today, and we will mark it for demolition.
