The governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, has eulogised embattled his deputy, Yakubu Garba, on his 51st birthday.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports there was a frosty relationship between governor and his deputy, following the governor’s alleged reduction in monthly allowances and overhead due to the deputy’s office as well as the deputy’s choice, Babangida Kudodo, as the consensus chairmanship candidate for Shiroro Local Government Council.

At the peak of the crisis last week, the deputy governor reportedly considered resignation but shelved the plans following the intervention of elders and traditional rulers in the state.

He maintains that the existing harmonious relationship between them will continue to wax stronger for the greater good of the state.

The governor also assures the celebrant of his continuous support as they collectively steer the ship of leadership in the state.

He prays that Allah will grant the celebrant more years, good health, wisdom and renewed strength for more impactful service and fulfilled dreams.

The deputy governor will clock 51 on May 5.
