Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Wednesday donated three houses to the three widows of late Sheikh Goni Aisami, an Islamic cleric recently murdered in the state.
Presenting the houses’ documents to the Emir of Bade in Gashua, Abubakar Umar Suleiman, Mr Buni said the donation was in fulfilment of his promise to support the late Aisami family.
Represented by Babagana Kyari, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Mr Buni said the widows had houses of their own to look after their children.
Responding, Mr Suleiman thanked the governor for the love and support to the family of the renown cleric.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Buni had earlier offered automatic employment to two children of the deceased.
NAN recalls that the slain cleric, a native of Gashua, was allegedly shot dead on August 19 by two soldiers in Jaji-Maji, Karasuwa Local Government Area of the state.
On August 27, Lance Corporal John Gabriel and Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon were dismissed by the Nigerian Army, and handed over to Police Command in the state for prosecution.
