Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has expressed his administration’s commitment to end banditry and return displaced persons to their homes.

Mr Lawal gave the assurance during a condolence visit to the Zurmi Local Government Area on Thursday over the recent bandit attacks in the area.

The governor, who was received by the Emir of Zurmi, Bello Suleiman, at his palace, assured that the activities of the terrorist groups would soon be a thing of the past.

According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Suleiman Idris, the governor commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its efforts in fighting banditry in the state.

While at the Zurmi LGA military formation, Mr Lawal commended the troops for their sacrifice and selfless service to the nation.

“We appreciate the federal government’s support, especially the increased presence of troops in volatile areas across the state.

“The security forces are doing an excellent job of securing the lives and properties of the people,” Mr Lawal added.

During his visit to the internally displaced persons at GSS Zurmi, Government Secondary School Nasarawan Zurmi, and Primary School Dauran, the governor presented relief materials and promised to work towards returning them to their homes.
