The Chairman, Association of Katsina State Indigenes in Sokoto State, Aliyu Bala-Daura, has urged Katsina State Government to ensure the completion of Inland Dry Port sited in Funtua.
According to Bala-Daura, completion of the project, which was started by the previous administration of Ibrahim Shema, would help in harnessing the economic potential of the state.
Mr Bala-Daura, who made the call in an interview on Thursday in Sokoto, enjoined the governor to create more jobs for the youth in agriculture and solid minerals sectors due to the vast opportunities in the areas.
The chairman commended Governor Masari for his achievements in the state, describing them as “overwhelming and encouraging” in all sectors.
He said the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state was good, as it had provided a forum to review the state’s achievements since 1987.
Mr Bala-Daura noted that the proposed extension of rail lines to Katsina, through Daura, would uplift the living standard of the people.
The chairman said members of the association had been contributing towards the development of both Katsina and Sokoto states, in addition to establishing a cordial relationship with the government of the two states.
He explained that Katsina state indigenes resident in various states of the federation, formed an umbrella body with the objective of facilitating development of their host states.
