Governor Dikko Radda has commissioned a new Jumaat Mosque in the Sandamu Town of Sandamu Local Government Area of the state.
The mosque, named Masjid Sardauna was constructed by an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mustapha Mohammed-Bala, who currently serves as AIG for Zone 6, Calabar.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the governor commended the AIG for constructing a religious edifice of that nature.
In a statement on Friday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, stated that the governor urged the benefitting communities to judiciously use the mosque, advising them to set up committee that would ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
The special occasion was graced by the presence of Emirates of Saura, Faruq Umar Faruq, who turbaned the Chief Imam of the mosque, Imam Yusuf Muhammad, as Sardauna.
Mr Radda charged religious leaders to intensify effort in educating their followers on the teaches and lessons of Islam.
During his sermon, the Imam after leading two Raka’at prayers at the mosque, stressed the importance of investing in Islamic activities to seek reward from Almighty Allah.
The governor was accompanied by Members of the State Executive Council and the top government functionaries in the country.
