Barring last-minute changes, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State is to reshuffle his cabinet, following corruption allegations hanging on the necks of some of his political appointees, DAILY NIGERIAN learned.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that in the past few weeks, some top government officials in the state had either been indicted or found wanting by the state House of Assembly.
It was also gathered that the governor will soon hold a special meeting with some government officials with a view to finding a way out, as well as issuing a warning to some commissioners over various alleged malfeasances.
Recall that the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Development Control, Arc. Stanley Buba, was caught issuing approvals without recourse to the law establishing the Nasarawa Urban Development Board, NUDB.
The state Assembly had also set up a six-man investigative committee to investigate the alleged fraud and insubordination.
The Assembly, headed by Speaker Ibrahim Balarabe had also called for the suspension of Mr Buba to pave way for proper investigation.
Speaker Balarabe had said that, “the decision taken by the House on the need for Stanley to step aside was to ensure thorough investigation on the activities of the NUDB in the state”.
Similarly, the Assembly had 4 months ago passed a resolution, recommending the sack of a former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Aliyu Tijjani, over alleged N1Billion education contract scam.
Other government officials investigated by the Assembly are the Nasarawa Local Government Area Chairman Sani Ottos and Deputy Chairman, Karu Local Government Area, Lawal karshi over alleged insubordination.
The Chairman of the state Universal Education Board, Muhammed Dan’Azumi, had also appeared before the House Committee on education to answer questions on primary school contracts.
