The Borno State Government on Thursday clamped down on commercial banks operating in Maiduguri that failed to update their documents.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the enforcement team from Borno Geographic Information Service, BOGIS, sealed branches of four banks, comprising Polaris, Ecobank, Access and UBA for defaulting.

Speaking to newsmen on the exercise, the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Adam Bababe, said the affected banks had been given sufficient notice to perfect their documents and pay outstanding ground rents, but they failed to comply.
