The Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, a civil society organisation, has called on the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, to set-up special skill acquisition programme for Nigerian returnees from South Africa.
The Chairman of the group in Anambra, Vincent Ezekwueme, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Friday.
Mr Ezekwueme said the best way to resettle the returnees and make them productive and contribute to national development was to package special skill acquisition programme that would equip them to be self-reliant.

“It is better for the returnees to be job creators than job seekers in order to contribute meaningfully to our national economy.”
He commended the humanitarian efforts of the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, for the free evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa.
Mr Ezekwueme called on other wealthy and public-spirited Nigerians to emulate him.
He further called for the setting up of a special fund for the rehabilitation of the returnees.
He said: “Special trust fund should be constituted to properly rehabilitate the returnees so that they will not regret their return to the country.
“The Federal Government should also ensure that others willing to come home return safely with their belongings.”
He lauded the National Diaspora Commission for demanding compensation from South Africa for Nigerians, who lost their businesses in the xenophobic attack.
