The Wase Consolidation Movement for 2023 has commended the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris-Wase, for empowering 3,000 members of his constituency in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the lawmaker had recently distributed six tractors; 500 classic motorcycles; 1000 sewing machines; 800 grinding machines; 50 tricycles; 30 hand trailers to members of his constituency.
Other items distributed to farmers included maize threshers, rice threshers and farm spreader machines.
Reacting to the legislative largesse, the convener of the group, Saleh Gada-Gada, described the deputy speaker as an outstanding legislature who has the interest of his constituents at heart.
Issuing a statement on Monday, Mr Gada-Gada said the deputy speaker is “no doubt is the best thing to happen to Wase”.
The group, therefore, passed a vote of confidence on Mr Wase, advising him to run for the office in 2023.
He said: “We are appealing to the Deputy Speaker to please reconsider and answer the clarion to contest again in 2023, as Wase is determined and ready to re-elect him.
“We call on well-meaning people from Wase to join hands with him so as to enjoy more dividends of democracy,” he added.
Mr Gada-Gada disclosed that the deputy speaker has attracted many projects to Wase Constituency, from roads to electrification to women and youths empowerment.
He said: “Hon. Wase is a material not only for Wase Constituency but also for the country as a whole.
“We are all living witness to his outstanding contributions at the National Assembly and his leadership prowess which has endeared him among many legislators.
“It is our belief that the future is bright for Hon. Wase. The constituents are advised to rally around him and show him support and solidarity in order to encourage him to continue with the good work.”
