A Coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, has urged the Kano State House of Assembly to enact laws that will provide punishment for blasphemy in the state.

The leader of the group, Ibrahim Muazzam, said this on Monday while paying a courtesy visit on the Speaker of the House, Abdulazeez Gafasa in Kano.

Mr Muazzam said that the appeal followed recent happening in the state which almost resulted in violence.

“The house is 100 per cent in your support; members of the coalition will be invited when lawmakers return from recess for further deliberations on the issue.

He commended the coalition for its efforts towards sustaining peace in the state.

“We are fully in support of your resolutions; we are going to do everything within our power to ensure that we enact the law.

“In areas that we have no power, we are going to write to relevant authorities on the issue,” he said.
