The first batch of intending pilgrims of Kano state is scheduled to depart Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, MAKIA to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, July 10.
Executive Secretary, Kano state Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mohammad Danbatta made the announcement in Monday while briefing journalists on level of preparations for this year’s exercise.
He explained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON had selected Kano for early airlift considering the board’s preparations.
He assured that plans have been in place to achieve the July 10 deadline, stressing that there shall be no failure as the board is ready for the departures.
In the same vein, the ES also announced the reduction of N51,170.45 Hajj fare for the 2019 exercise.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that NAHCON has directed all state pilgrims welfare boards to effect the reduction following the announcement that it slashed 620 Saudi Riyal, equivalent to $160.
The downward review, according to NAHCON was due to re-classification of land transportation routes and reduction of the rates on the portal of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on transportation routes, scheduled for Nigeria pilgrims for 2019 exercise.
“in compliance with NAHCON’s directive, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare board has instituted five members committee to refund N51,170.45 to pilgrims who have already completed the earlier announced fare of N1,535,754.
“Therefore, we call on the prospective pilgrims who ate yet to complete their payment to do so quickly as the board is about to close the payment,” the ES said
