A prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya-Jingir, has said anybody waiting for him to regret his decision of supporting Muslim-Muslim ticket will wait in vain.

In the run-up to the 2023 presidential election, the Jos-based influential Islamic cleric had endorsed the then presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, who are both Muslims.

But addressing a congregation, Mr Jingir lampooned those criticising him for endorsing the ticket.

But while reacting to the harsh economic conditions faced by Nigerians under the Tinubu administration, Mr Jingir Jingir lampooned those criticising him for allegedly making a worng decision.

Mr Jingir, who is also a factional leader of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, also described his critics as hypocrites.

According to him, no amounts of harsh policies introduced by Mr Tinubu would make him regret his actions.

“Those of you insulting me unjustifiably because I advocated Muslim-Muslim tickets are liars; you never voted for it.

“They are saying he [Tinubu] wants to relocate Abuja to Lagos. Am I the one who advised him to do that?

“I advocated for Muslim-Muslim ticket and told Tinubu to be fair. I prayed for his good health and success at the polls, and he emerged.

“You will understand that we Muslims love them [Christians]. Did one percent of Christians in this country vote for the Muslim-Muslim ticket?

“Who is the current FCT minister? Did they vote more than us? How many Muslim Yorubas voted for Tinubu? What about the Christian Yorubas who are his tribesmen?,” he quizzed.

“When his wife, who is a Christian, visited us here in Jos to campaign for her husband, they rejected him and told her they could not vote for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“But when she came back to distribute money for victims of insecurity, did she share it with Muslims or Christians?

“I swear to Allah, I voted for Tinubu because of Islam, because Allah has urged us to be fair and equitable to Muslims and non-Muslims.

“Anybody waiting for me to regret voting for Tinubu because of any of his harsh policies will wait in vain.

“I still stand by Muslim-Muslim ticket forever. I will vote Muslim-Muslim here on earth, even at the point of death and hereafter,” the cleric stressed.
