The House of Representatives on Tuesday lifted a suspension it placed on Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency.
The decision followed a letter signed by Mr Jibrin, allegedly apologising to the House.
Paraphrasing the letter, Speaker Yakubu Dogara said Mr Jibrin “has fulfilled all the conditions by writing this letter and so he is free to resume his legislative duties whenever he wants, if he so wishes.”
On September 28, 2016, the House of Representatives suspended Mr Jibrin for 180 legislative days, following allegations of budget padding and corruption against the Speaker and some principal officers.
In October last year, the Kano State House of Assembly wrote the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the protracted suspension of Mr Jibrin, asking the House to recall him immediately.
