A 20-year-old girl, Hauwa Suleiman of Nupawa ward in the Bauchi state capital, has been kidnapped and gang-raped by four notorious Sara-Suka thugs, the police say.

Spokesman for the Bauchi State Police Command, Kamal Abubakar, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday, saying the thugs also robbed her of mobile phone and the sum of N8,000.

According to him, the lady reported to the police on November 4 that the hoodlums on motorcycles at about 10pm on the same date while on her way back home after closing from work allegedly abducted her near Bauchi club and took her to an uncompleted building along old airport road where they committed the alleged acts.

He added that the command, having received the report, ordered its anti-kidnapping unit to swing into action with a view to fishing out the culprits and bringing them to book.

“On the 4th November 2017, intensified effort by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit led to the arrest of the following suspects in connection with the case; Abbas Usman aka Gero the gang leader 18 years, Shamsuddeen Adamu aka Duna 18 years old, Gidado Mohammed Yayayi 18 years all armed on their way to disrupt a wedding ceremony in Bauchi metropolis,” he said.

The police spokesman said exhibits recovered from the suspects included two sharp cutlasses, two sharp knives and criminal charms.

He further explained that other successes recorded by the command within two months were dislodgement of kidnappers’ hideout on November 18, arrest of kidnapping suspects namely Dalhatu Gambo, Ussaini Garba and Auwal Garba in Ningi Local Government Area, just as many armed robbery suspects and burglars were also nabbed.
