Angry youths in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State have trooped to the streets to protest the high cost of living in the country.

The protesters blocked the popular Kaduna Road, a major highway linking Kaduna to Abuja.

The Monday protesters carried placards with different inscriptions such as ‘We Are Not Slaves’, ‘enough is enough’; ‘stop anti-masses policies’, ‘hardship is unbearable’, and ‘fuel subsidy must be back.’

The protest is coming three days ahead of the planned nationwide protest by some Nigerian youths to demand an improvement in the country’s economic situation.

The protest, which is billed to take place between August 1 and August 10, is tagged “10 days of rage, with the hashtag #EndGovernance in Nigeria.
