Let me join the multitude of people using their pens to extend heartfelt congratulations on the well-deserved appointment of Dr. Ibrahim Musa as Special Advisor on Medical Services and Personal Physician to His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State. Indeed, this is one of the most thoughtful and strategic appointments made so far by His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Dr. Ibrahim Musa is a remarkable scientist and consultant hematologist whose passion for the development of Kano State, and indeed Nigeria, knows no bounds. He is a reservoir of ideas and innovations which, if implemented, will undoubtedly transform not only the healthcare sector but other areas of development as well.

I have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Ibrahim Musa for a long time, not just as a close friend and brother, but also as a neighbor. Living in the same estate gave me a unique opportunity to engage with him deeply. Our daily one-hour strolls around the estate became a school of wisdom for me—an hour where I discovered a fountain of knowledge that reshaped and enhanced my outlook on life.

Dr. Ibrahim Musa is a man of exceptional ability, unwavering discipline, and a strong sense of purpose. His appointment is a celebration not just of his individual achievements but of the promise he holds to drive meaningful change in Kano State. I am confident that his contributions will have a profound impact on the healthcare sector and other critical areas of governance.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to appoint someone of Dr. Ibrahim Musa’s caliber is a testament to his commitment to transforming the lives of the people of Kano State. By bringing individuals like Dr. Ibrahim Musa into his administration, the governor is demonstrating his vision and dedication to Kano’s progress and prosperity.

It is important to note that Dr. Ibrahim Musa is not just a local gem but an internationally recognized hematologist. His expertise transcends borders, yet he has chosen to remain in Nigeria and serve his people. When I once asked why he did not venture into private practice or leave the country for greener pastures, he responded with remarkable humility: “I don’t want to mix my profession with the insatiable desire to accumulate wealth.” This is a man who has turned down numerous offers to work abroad despite the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in Nigeria, choosing instead to stay and make a difference at home.

Beyond his scientific brilliance, Dr. Ibrahim Musa is a man of many talents. His mastery of the Hausa language rivals that of great scholars; when he writes in Hausa, one could mistake him for a disciple of Barbushe. It is for this reason I fondly refer to him as Dambu Mai Hawa Biyu.

Interestingly, he also has a lighter, more relatable side. Dr. Ibrahim Musa is a lover of Indian movies—an ardent fan of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. He knows the lyrics to classics like Mohabbatein and Maine Pyar Kiya by heart and can passionately debate why Akshay Kumar does not measure up to the legendary Khans, all while providing compelling evidence to support his arguments.

Courageous, sagacious, and versatile, Dr. Ibrahim Musa has the potential to introduce groundbreaking innovations to Kano State if given the opportunity. His intellectual breadth and leadership qualities make him a rare asset to the administration and the state at large.

Finally, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for making this excellent decision. I am confident that you will never regret this appointment. I also urge that Dr. Ibrahim Musa be utilized to his full potential for the benefit of the people of Kano State.

Allah ya rika. Hakika an sanya kwarya a gurbin ta.
