Idris Alkali: Police declare 13 more persons wanted

The Plateau Police Command has declared 13 more persons wanted in connection with the killing of Idris Alkali, a retired Major-general.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Terna Tyopev, made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday in Jos.

According to Mr Tyopev, 12 of the suspects hail from Dwei Village in Du District, while one is from Gushet-Shen Village, both in Jos South LGA.

“After an elaborate and painstaking investigation into the killing of Maj.-Gen. Idris Alkali (rtd), it has further been revealed that 13 more persons who participated in the illegal activities that led to the death of the late general are at large.

“Therefore, Austin Agbonlahor, the Commissioner of Police in charge of this command, has directed that they should be declared wanted,” he said.

Tyopev listed  the wanted persons as Kanan Nyam, Solomon Gyang, Dung Deme, Gynag Murak, Da Chuwang Samuel and Nyam Samuel.

The others are Dung Gbeh, Daddy Dogo, James dung, Gynag Dung, Jay Boy as well as Destiny and Gyang, whose surnames were not disclosed.

The spokesman called on members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the police.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the command had on Nov. 4, 2018, paraded 19 suspects in connection with the killing.

It charged the suspects to court the following day and they were remanded in the Jos Prison.

Alkali was declared missing on Sept. 3, 2018. He had left Abuja for Bauchi, via Jos, but never reached his destination.

On Sept. 29, 2018, his car and other personal effects were found in a pond in Dura-Du community of Jos South LGA.

On October 31, 2018, his body was found in an abandoned well at Gushwet, Shen in Jos South LGA.

He was buried by the military on Nov. 3, 2018, in Abuja.
