I’ll sue Vanguard newspapers for defamation – Atiku

A former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday threatened to sue Vanguard Nigeria Newspapers for allegedly writing a defamatory story about him.

Apparently reacting to a story written by Vanguard Newspapers about him in a tweet, Mr Atiku said, “This is the most disrespectful act I have seen from a news organization.”

Threatening to sue Vanguard News, Mr Atiku wrote, “The news is fake, and my lawyers will be writing to Vanguard”,

Similarly, Atiku Media Office, tweeted, “Dear @vanguardngrnews, this fake news from your platform amounts to slander. Our legal team will be writing you shortly.”

However, DAILY NIGERIAN observed that the said story has been brought down by Vanguard Newspaper as attempts to open the link of the story to know what the story is all about failed, displaying, “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist”.

Mr Atiku’s tweet attracted divergent views from both his supporters and non-supporters on Tweeter.
