The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the investigation and arrest of a yet-to-be identified policeman caught on camera extorting money from commercial bus drivers.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, disclosed this in a statement on X.com on Sunday.

In the 15-second video which was posted by an X user, Somto Okonkwo @General_Somto, the policeman was seen collecting money from commercial bus drivers plying the road.

But reacting to the tweet, Mr Okoye assured that he would personally identify these officers and share their “details here to show that the command has zero tolerance for extortion”.

He added that the CP had also directed the command’s Complaint Response Unit and Provost Department to ensure the officers receive maximum punishment.

“I will personally identify these officers and share their details here to show that the command has zero tolerance for extortion. Disciplinary actions will be taken against them to serve as a warning to others.

“The Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the immediate arrest of the officer and their team seen in this video.

“He has also directed the command’s complaint response unit and provost department to ensure the officers receive maximum punishment,” he said.
