The Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Bagudu, on Wednesday, said his government has given women and youth prominent roles to play in the development of the state.
The governor, who stated this at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress Women and Youth Campaign rally in the state, said a lot more women and youth are given chances to contribute their quota in the activities of the government.
According to him, Kebbi state needed more women and youth than many other states in view of the important roles they have always played towards the development of the state.
Mr Bagudu, therefore, commended the First Lady, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari for finding his wife, Dr. Zainab Bagudu, worthy of an appointment as the North West zonal coordinator of the presidential campaign.
“On behalf of the Kebbi State people, I wish to extend our profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Hajiya Buhari for appointing Dr. Zainab Bagudu as the zonal coordinator of the presidential campaign for the north-west zone.
“This is evident to show that Dr. Bagudu was elected not only in capacity but for the Kebbi State as a whole. No doubt we shall make sure we give her the necessary support to deliver this mandate for our great party,” Mr Bagudu said.
According to him, President Buhari had done so many good things for the state, adding that his people in the state have unanimously resolved that they are giving APC the maximum votes in the forthcoming elections.
The governor commended Mrs Bagudu for designing so many social development activities in the state that support the welfare of women and youths in the state.
“Dr. Zainab has successfully drawn so many activities that cater for women and youths in the state, she brought prominent companies to support women and youths. And that is why our women are very promising and active today,” he said.
The governor also made it clear that APC as a party is a hot cake in Nigeria today, according to him, the party has excelled in national building.
He, therefore, reaffirmed his assurance that Kebbi people will cast all their votes for APC in the forthcoming general elections.
In her remarks, the wife of the governor thanked her husband for all the support he gave her as well as all the party’s stakeholders in the state, urging women and youths to continue their unalloyed support to the APC.
She said the time has come for all women and youths to be proactive in making sure that the APC succeed at the general elections.
