The Head of India’s COVID-19 vaccine panel, N. K. Arora, revealed that the Biological E vaccine is expected to have 90 per cent effectiveness against the virus.
Doctor Arora who disclosed this in an interview with a local television news channel NDTV said the vaccine was entering Phase 3 trials and could be available by October.
According to the doctor, the made-in-India vaccine would likely be a game changer in the fight against the pandemic.
According to Arora, Biological E’s vaccine to be called Corbevax is similar to the Novavax vaccine.
India started the vaccination against COVID-19 on January 16, by administrating two made-in-India vaccines namely Covishield and Covaxin.
Recently, Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V too was rolled out in the country.
