INEC declares PDP winner of Oyo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning/Collation Officer for the Oyo state governorship election, Prof. Oluwatoyin Temitope has declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

Mrs Temitope while declaring Mr Makinde as the winner of the governorship election disclosed that he polled 515,621 votes to defeat Adebayo Adelabu of the ruling All Progressives Congress who scored 357, 982 votes

The result was announced at the Oyo state INEC headquarters.

In all, the PDP governorship candidate won in 28 of the 33 local government areas in the state while the ruling APC candidate won in the remaining 5 local governments.
