An informant, identified as Ismail Yakubu, who misled the police officers into raiding elder statesman, Edwin Clark residence, has been paraded by the Nigeria Police Force.

Police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood said Mr Yakubu, a resident of Waru Village, Apo District, Abuja, would be arraigned in court today (Wednesday).

Recall that on Tuesday, Mr Clark’s Abuja residence was searched by police officers in Asokoro neighbourhood.

The officers were reportedly acting on a tip-off that the 91-year-old was stockpiling arms, although it was later reported that no illicit weapons or other incriminating items relating to gunrunning were found at the end of the operation

However, following a nationwide outrage and condemnation, distanced itself from the act, describing the operation as illegal.

The police have since released the name of the erring officers as David Dominic (an assistant superintendent of police who presumably led the team); Godwin Musa, Sada Abubakar and Yabo Paul (all inspectors).
