Insecurity: Lalong charges Catholic women to pray for Nigeria

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau on Friday in Jos tasked the Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, of Nigeria to prayer for Nigerian leaders and for those still in kidnappers’ captivity.

“Please pray for leaders of Nigeria. Pray especially for those in captivity so that God will give us the enablement, the wisdom and the strategy to get them released,’’ he told CWO members who visited him.

The CWO members are in Jos for their annual; retreat and prayers.

Mr Lalong noted the special attribute of women as being fervent in prayers and intercessors for their families, Church, and country and urged them to pray for national peace.

Earlier, the CWO Board of Trustees Secretary, Florence Agur, said the visit was to appreciate the governor for his kind gesture to the association and other groups in the state.

She lauded the governor for being detribalised and for being committed to the progress of the Catholic Church and the state.

She said the visit was also to introduce the new President of CWO in Nigeria, Mary Gonsun, to the governor as she takes over affairs of the association.

In her remarks, Mrs Gonsun appreciated the governor for donating a bus to CWO branch of Jos Diocese and solicited is support to enable her to discharge her duties successfully.
