Various Islamic scholars and residents of Zaria, on Wednesday, offered special prayers to seek for Allah’s intervention over rising security challenges in parts of Zazzau Emirate and Kaduna State.
The special prayer, attended by hundreds of residents, was offered at Kofar-Gayan low cost eid prayer ground in Zaria.
One of the organisers, Tanimu Abubakar, said the prayer session was in line with the teaching of Prophet Muhammad, SAW, who enjoined Muslims to embark on prayers during adversities.
He added that the prayer session would be sustained in all Mosques.
The cleric, however, advised government to recruit and deploy more security personnel to strategic locations in the state, to help tackle the challenges.
He also urged government to leverage on technology and empower security personnel with modern gadgets to improve surveillance, to effectively stem criminal elements.
He condemned calls to allow Nigerians to own weapons to protect themselves, saying that it would be counterproductive for the country.
Similarly, Aminu Ramalan, a resident, said the prayer session was organized to seek for Allah’s intervention and guidance for Nigerian leaders, to enable them gain additional wisdom and guidance in tackling the security challenges.
Mr Ramalan advised citizens to improve the interpersonal relationships and repent for their sins, to gain Allah’s favours.
in recent weeks, Zazzau emirate has witnessed series of attacks by bandits, cattle rustlers and kidnappers.
