The Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one hotelier and 79 others for allegedly involving in internet fraud in Lagos.
A statement signed and released by the EFCC’s spokesman, Ayo Oyewole, in Lagos on Monday said that the hotelier is one Oladimeji Ogunfolaju, the owner of Lakers Hotel and Lake County Entertainment in Lagos.
The EFCC said that Ogunfolaju and the other suspects were arrested during a special operation carried out by its operatives in the hotel at No. 29, Ebute-Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Monday.
The EFCC said that the suspects were arrested after three months of intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering by its operatives about the suspects alleged criminal activities.

According to EFCC, the 30-year-old Ogunfolaju confessed that he built the hotel, which houses a night club and a strip bar, from the proceeds of internet fraudd he was involved in, in 2017.
“The hotel seen as a haven for internet fraudsters, was guarded by armed security men who took to their heels on sighting the EFCC operatives.
“About 60 of the suspects had volunteered useful information, leading to further investigation.
“Some of the items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include: exotic cars, jewellery, mobile phones and some documents.
“The suspects will soon be charged to court,” the EFFC said.
